Compressed 8mm Tape Subsystem [Parity Systems]

Compressed 8mm Tape Subsystem uses industry-standard, 8mm, 106-metertapes to store up to 25 GB of data. Data is received by the subsystem,compressed, and stored. When data is read from the subsystem, it isdecompressed and sent to the host. The amount of compression depends uponthe type of data being stored, and can vary for 2:1 to 5:1.The 8mm tape drive can be housed in a single-device, three-device, or 12-device enclosure. The enclosure contains a power supply, cooling fan,SCSI input and output connectors, terminator, and ID switches.The compressed tape subsystem is ideal for use with large databases orservers with large amounts of disk storage.Standard (noncompressed) 8mm tape subsystems are also available.
